slumpContrary to popular belief, while many agents may close down their inboxes during the summer months, the industry as a whole does not “shut down,” and neither should we as writing. Agents, editors, and writers alike crisscross the nation this time of year, going to conferences and expos. Some folks even go international, coming here or going from other countries. Twitter and Facebook are abuzz with these events, so no, the industry is anything but shut down. And while conferences might not be your cup of tea, there are still plenty of things to do to stretch one’s writing and submission muscles during the summer months, aside from—of course—putting words on the page. That should be a given.
